Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How is pricing determined?
Pricing is determined by (but not limited to) the:
  • physical size of the project and the detail wanted
  • number of walls/items you want painted
  • readiness and condition and/or texture/material of the wall surface
  • accessibility the area and any architectural features/incorporated furniture wanted
  • changes wanted after painting is done and travel distance
Once you are satisfied with the design and color scheme for a project I will require partial payment before painting begins in order to purchase materials needed. The payment typically amounts to 1/3 of the total cost of the project.

Do you accept credit cards?
Not directly at this time, unfortunately. I do accept PayPal and/or cash, however!

What's the typical process for a project?
  1. The first step is to contact me via email to discuss your project and set up a time for me to come view the space.
  2. We will view the space together and discuss your vision. This visit is primarily to acquire a visual of the space and to brainstorm together. More than likely I will take photos of the space and / or make notes of the dimensions.
  3. On the second visit, I will show you a few sketches that incorporate the ideas we’ve discussed. At this meeting we will look at the sketches and decide whether or not any changes need to be made. If we agree on a sketch at this meeting, I will be able to give you a price quote for your project within a couple of days. . If the price is not to your satisfaction, we can talk about ways to adjust the project in order to modify the cost. I can also give you an idea of how long the project will take.
  4. I will then make a color rendering of the approved sketch to make sure the color scheme accurately matches your vision. This rendering will not be as detailed as the actual mural.
  5. We will choose a start date and coordinate working hours. I usually paint 4-6 hours a day.
  6. Prior to the start date, all furniture must be moved away from the wall(s) to be painted.
  7. The wall in question must be primed. You may choose to do this yourself or I can prime it for a fee.
  8. Painting begins!

Can you paint on more than just walls?
Yep! I've painted things such as chairs and medicine cabinets, and I'm more than happy to try and paint on whatever you'd like in your project.

Do you paint individual characters as opposed to an entire wall mural?
Also yes! This is your project, so I am here to materialize your vision! Individual scenes or characters are also less expensive.

Do I need to prep the walls?
If you have chosen an entire wall mural rather than isolated images, the wall(s) to be painted need to be primed. You may prime them yourself, which will also make the work go faster. I am glad to prime the wall(s) if you prefer for an additional fee.

How long will it take?
The length of time varies per project. Contributing factors for estimating completion time are wall prep, size of mural, detail and working space conditions (i.e. cramped corners, ceilings, architectural variations).

Do I need to supply any materials?
I will supply all painting materials including drop cloths. However, if the walls are higher than 8ft or the ceiling is part of your project you will need to supply ladders accordingly.

Can you reproduce an image or scene of my choosing?
In most cases, the answer is ‘yes.’ I will let you know during the consultation visit, so it is best to have your images on hand. You may also choose to have portraits of your kids, friends or family represented in your mural. I work from clear photographs. There is a separate fee per portrait.

How hard is it to paint over a mural if I decide to change the wall in the future?
Painting over a mural wall is easy. It will require 3-4 coats of primer to create a blank canvas

Do you do faux finishes?
No, unless it is part of the mural background.
